Implementation of the Week

• Validating a logged in user’s profile to display a custom related list 
  • Permissions cannot be set for custom related lists
  • The XML custom related list is generated on load of the record page
  • In the custom function for the list, before any data is queried, the code checks the logged-in user’s profile information. If their profile is not on a pre-approved list as defined in the code, the function stops and nothing is displayed.
  • Alternatively, you could implement a return statement of “Sorry, you don’t have permission to view this list. Please contact your administrator”.
