- Zoho CRM // Client Scripting for Instant Duplicate Prevention
- An ongoing challenge in CRM is keeping your Lead and Contact lists free of duplicate records
- However, when users are only able to view/work with their own records, it may not be possible for them to check for duplicates before creating a new record
- Using Client Scripting (running on the Create/Edit pages) we can run an instant check before a Lead/Contact is created, to query the CRM for duplicates
- While definition of duplicate is flexible here, it will generally be based on a matching Email and/or Phone number. That being said, it can be custom coded to search for duplicates based on any criteria
- It’s important to note that this function can search more than one module, so if a Contact already existed with a given email address, it could prevent the creation of a new Lead with that same email
